Our Story

Why Westward

We started Westward because we've been on the other side of the table. We know how painful a remodel or build can get when you pick the wrong partner: the late updates, the inflated change orders, the decisions made for the invoice instead of the way you'll actually live in the house. Westward exists to be the contractor we would have wanted to hire.

What we do is simple: we build homes, not houses. Remodeling or building from scratch is stressful for a family. There's always more noise, more decisions, and more unknowns than anyone signs up for. We're there to help you see what's possible and to carry the weight of the build, so the end of it is a home you actually love living in. We have an in-house electrician, plumber, and certified roofers; we partner with architects and designers we trust; and we know the people who approve your permits. Ben and Ehoud are both in the details on every project, because that's where a house becomes a home.

We chose the name Westward because every project is a journey, toward the Peninsula communities we love, and toward homes where we get to express our craft. The best part isn't the finish, it's watching families live in the work for years after we hand over the keys.

Meet the Founders

Two partners. One philosophy.

Ehoud brings efficiency. Ben brings design and craftsmanship. On every project, both of us are personally in the finish, sweating the details that turn a house into a home.

Ben Attias, Co-Founder of Westward Construction

Ben Attias

Co-Founder · General Contractor · Craft & Design

Ben has been building on the Peninsula since 2010. Over 16 years and 200+ projects, he's become known for the work other contractors turn down: structurally challenging remodels, additions that need to feel like they were always there, and the kind of craft sensibility that treats every joint and every finish as a decision that will still look right in twenty years.

Ben listens before he prices. If a simpler version of your project might serve you better, he'll talk it through with you before handing over a number.

Ehoud Amos, Co-Founder of Westward Construction

Ehoud Amos

Co-Founder · Operations · Planning & Communication

Ehoud spent 15+ years in marketing and product management before joining Westward as co-founder. He grew up around his family's construction fabrication factory, so he's known the trade since childhood.

Ehoud first met Ben as a client, hiring him to remodel his own home, and liked the work enough to become his partner instead. He runs the operational side: planning, communication, keeping projects on schedule, and making sure the details that matter to you don't get lost between trades.

What Guides Us

Three things we care about, in this order.

How you'll live in the house

Every design decision starts with how you'll actually use the space, not the listing photo. We push back on choices that look good on paper but would frustrate you for years.

Craft that lasts

Every joint, every finish, every detail is a decision that will still look right in twenty years. We don't cut corners where no one will see, because we'll see, and so will the next homeowner.

Honest scope, honest pricing

Every project gets scoped around what you actually need. When a simpler version might serve you better, we raise it. Change orders come up before the work happens, not on an invoice after.
